Identity
Ice Cream Cake is a retail cultivar name (often called a strain). Leafly lists no alias. It describes an indica-dominant hybrid made by crossing Wedding Cake with Gelato #33. [1] A seed-company description gives the same two parents but lists them in the opposite order, as Gelato #33 by Wedding Cake. [2] Because the parent order differs (which plant was mother is not stated), and the two descriptions are both commercial, confidence in the lineage is reported, not verified.A breeder or originator could not be verified from the sources read, so breeder attribution is unknown. The seed-company description comes from one seller of its own version, and I did not confirm whether other sellers offer different plants under the same name. For related cultivars see Wedding Cake and Gelato. Also see lineage claims and breeder attribution.
Classification
Both sources label it indica-leaning: "Indica-dominant hybrid" (Leafly) and a 75/25 indica to sativa split (seed company). [1][2] The split is a seller's classification, not a chemical measurement. A 2019 genetic study of 30 retail strain names found no clear genetic support for the sativa, indica and hybrid types in online databases. [3] Cannabinoid dominance is unknown; no readable source gave a measured value. See why labels do not predict effects.Appearance
No readable source gave a usable, attributed description of the flower, so none is given.Aroma and constituents
Leafly describes a creamy flavor with sweet hints of vanilla and sugary dough. [1] The seed company describes a sweet, creamy, vanilla aroma with an earthy pine hint. [2] Both are reported descriptions, and the two are not identical. No readable batch-level terpene dataset was found, so no terpene percentages are given and none should be inferred from the name. See terpenes in cannabis.Potency
Composition varies, and verified batch data (batch, laboratory, test date, method) was not available. I checked the 2023 Colorado retail-flower study, the Nevada dataset of 2,662 samples and a 2026 Thai collection of 36 varieties. None listed Ice Cream Cake. A Europe PMC search for the name found no relevant cannabis chemistry paper. [4][5][6] The seed company states a THC range and Leafly offers general claims; those are marketing figures, not independent laboratory findings, and they are not repeated here. See how to read a cannabis COA.Reported experiences
These are anecdotes, not research. Leafly says it offers sedating effects and that medical patients and consumers report calming effects for pain, sleep and anxiety. [1] The seed company says it produces a relaxing, cerebral effect. [2] These come from sellers, not controlled research.Research
Evidence label: insufficient evidence. Proper evidence not found: no peer-reviewed study of this cultivar was identified (I searched Europe PMC full text by name). Findings for THC cannot be assumed to apply to a named cultivar. Sleep and pain claims are covered in cannabis for sleep and chronic pain. Evidence labels on this page: insufficient evidence means studies exist but are too few or too weak to judge; preclinical means cells or animals only; "Proper evidence not found" means I looked and found nothing usable.Safety
Products sold under one name can differ. [3] Because sedating claims are marketing, they do not remove the risks of THC-containing cannabis, covered on impairment and driving and adverse effects and use disorder. What is Ice Cream Cake crossed from?
Both sources read say Wedding Cake and Gelato #33, but they list the parents in opposite order. [1][2]
Is Ice Cream Cake an indica?
It is sold as indica-dominant. That is a retail label, not a measured property. [1][2]
How much THC is in Ice Cream Cake?
It varies, and no verified batch value was found. Listing percentages are marketing figures.
Does Ice Cream Cake help with sleep or pain?
Proper evidence not found for this cultivar. Leafly says users report calming effects, which is a report, not a trial result. [1]
