Identity
Super Lemon Haze is a retail cultivar name (often called a strain), sometimes shortened to "SLH". [1] Wikipedia credits breeder Franco Loja of the Netherlands-based Green House Seed Co., with origin in Amsterdam in the late 1990s. [2] Leafly also attributes it to Green House Seeds. [1] Two sources agree on the breeder, but they are both secondary descriptions, so confidence is reported.Reported lineage: Lemon Skunk crossed with Super Silver Haze. Leafly, Wikipedia and a breeder listing all say so. [1][2][3] Wikipedia adds that those parents trace to Skunk #1 and a three-way Haze cross. [2] This is breeder-reported lineage and none of it was confirmed by a genetic study I could read. Copies sold under this name by other sellers may differ from the original; the sources do not say how many exist. See lineage claims and breeder attribution.
Classification
The retail label is sativa or sativa-dominant hybrid. [1][2] This is a market category, not a measurement. A 2019 genetic study of 30 retail strain names found no clear genetic support for the sativa, indica and hybrid types used in online databases. [4] Cannabinoid dominance: in a Thai university collection of 36 varieties, Super Lemon Haze was grouped with the THC-dominant varieties, with CBDA below 0.05%. [5] See why labels do not predict effects.Appearance
Leafly calls it kief-caked and multi-colored; Wikipedia describes bright green flowers with dense trichomes. [1][2] Both are reported descriptions.Aroma and constituents
Leafly describes a zesty, citrusy, slightly sweet smell and a lemon-candy taste. [1] Wikipedia lists limonene and terpinolene as the most commonly reported dominant terpenes. [2] The entry gives no batch-level laboratory data, so treat this as an attributed claim. No measured terpene values for a specific batch were found, and no percentages are given or inferred. See limonene and terpinolene.Potency
Composition varies. No single verified batch value was available. What exists is a group result: in the Thai collection (one plant per variety, indoor, extracted in triplicate, HPLC), five varieties including Super Lemon Haze had THCA between 13.15% and 15.90% w/w, with total THC of 14.65% to 15.64% by the authors' calculation (THCA x 0.877 + THC). [5] I could not isolate the Super Lemon Haze value because the per-variety table is in a supplementary file I could not read. Do not read this as a Super Lemon Haze result. In a Nevada dataset of 2,662 samples, two of four outliers in one chemical cluster were named Super Lemon Haze, showing the name covers different profiles. [6] Breeder and retail listings state their own percentages; those are marketing figures, not independent lab results, and are not repeated. See total THC and total CBD.Reported experiences
These are anecdotes, not research. In a data analysis of Leafly user reports, 1,373 reports on this cultivar most often chose the tags "happy", "energetic" and "uplifted". [7] These are self-reports about products of unknown composition, so they do not show what the cultivar does. Leafly itself describes it as energetic and lively and says it may not suit people who are already keyed up. [1]Research
Evidence label: insufficient evidence for the cultivar itself. The studies above are about chemistry, nomenclature and user reports. I found no controlled human trial of Super Lemon Haze. Proper evidence not found for health outcomes. Findings for THC cannot be assumed to apply to a named cultivar. Evidence labels on this page: insufficient evidence means studies exist but are too few or too weak to judge; preclinical means cells or animals only; "Proper evidence not found" means I looked and found nothing usable.Safety
Products sold under one name can differ, so a familiar name is not a guide to strength. [4] The risks of THC-containing cannabis are covered on anxiety, panic and paranoia and impairment and driving. In the US, Poison Help is 1-800-222-1222; call 911 for emergencies. Laws differ by place; see cannabis laws by country. This is education, not medical or legal advice.Frequently asked questions
Who bred Super Lemon Haze?
Wikipedia and Leafly attribute it to Green House Seed Co. of the Netherlands, with Wikipedia naming Franco Loja. This is a reported attribution. [1][2]
What is Super Lemon Haze made from?
Reported parents are Lemon Skunk and Super Silver Haze. This is breeder-reported lineage. [1][3]
Is Super Lemon Haze high in THC?
It was grouped with THC-dominant varieties in one research collection, but no single verified value is available for the name. [5]
Will Super Lemon Haze make me energetic?
Some Leafly users tagged it "energetic," but those are self-reports on products of unknown composition, not a guaranteed effect. [7]
